Real Ale Ray left this review about The Kings Head
Only a short walk out of town to this quirky old pub, with the tiny bar counter tucked away in the the bar side of the pub. Only a couple of locals in having a beer on our Friday afternoon visit. Four handpumps with two in use, Sharps Atlantic and Wye Valley HPA. The prices in here were reasonable and the beer quality was excellent.

The Kings Head has left and right bars as well as a pool room with jukebox and a burner in a fireplace at the rear. The bar short bar counter, that serves both bars, supports four hand pumps, two of which were in operation drawing Wye Valley’s HPA and Sharp’s Doom Bar. Limited standard keg was also available alongside Madri. During a recent midweek evening visit a handful of locals has gathered in the left-hand bar to chat and watch cricket via Sky Sports on the television. The right-hand bar was empty, apart from a dartboard and a large courgette that was sitting on the bar. The very friendly barman had no idea where it had come from, but it had been in situ for a few days. A board on the wall advertises home cooked food available at lunchtime Fridays to Sundays. The fish and chips was priced at £13. I liked it in here and the HPA was decent so I’d return if in the area.

Two room pub with pool room at back, there's a small public to left which requires a sharp swerve to the right to find a small counter that is home to four pumps with a mix of Marstons, and I think as guests Robinsons & Shepherd Neame. I had the Shepherd Neame Whitstable Pale Ale rather than the Spitfire and it was very good. The games room is behind here with pool, darts and a couple of machines, there are a few screens dotted about as well. Decent if unexceptional decor with wheel back chairs, sewing machine tables and with rough plastered walls painted white, carpet or modern tiles throughout. There's a nice smoking shelter in the rear garden. It appears to have been two different buildings at one time and there's no easy access between the bars so I didn't explore the right hand side.

Right at the end of the main street , a multi roomed pub with beer garden , the first room you enter has a bar to the right and a corridor leading to another smaller bar and the beer garden , to the left is a slightly plusher area with a TV showing sport , there is a pool room towards the back of the pub which is smaller thab it looks from the outside , the staff and customers seem friendly enough , this is the best selection of beer in town ,Marstons Bitter , Pedigree , Wye Valley HPA , Bankss Bitter , Sharps Doombar , i had HPA which was OK , its a bit run down and tatty but as a local it would be fine
