Hillside pub up a single track lane. A tidy split-level two-roomer with fairly simple furnishings and flagstone floor. A welcome fire was on the go, though I would have turned down the music a bit. From the window and small front garden is a decent view down the valley back towards Cwmbran. Neat collection of knick-knacks, some framed pictures and an upright piano. You can also learn the Welsh alphabet whilst supping by staring at a rather nice old framed poster. GBG listed with two ales on my visit; Langton Bitter and an increasingly palatable Robinson Old Tom (NBSS 3/3.5/4 as I kept going back) alongside 12 ciders. Filled rolls and scotch eggs for £2.50. A nice old skool local that’s well-worth the effort to get the bus up for. 7.5
