Steve of N21 left this review about Hotel Mariners
After making the mistake of travelling into Haverfordwest on a dead past early closing Monday evening we were just about to give up to find a decent place to eat which wasn’t a curry house or Chinese when we stumbled across The Mariners Hotel and ventured in, mainly on account of it being the only non takeaway place in town open which seemed to be doing doing food.
Primarily a 28 bed hotel originally built in 1625 The Mariners does have a bar which is open to non residents. And although the décor is a bit dated and you have the feeling of being transported back a couple of decades when entering, its comfortable enough with a traditional Oak beamed décor and lots of historic B&W photos of the hotel and the town to give a bit of character.
Spirits rose as the bar supports three hand pumps and although the first two were dispensing the far from exciting GK IPA and Worthingtons cask, the third had Mauldons Thomas’ Tipple from the Suffolk Black Adder brewery which was a well kept pint.
The food turned out to be very good in terms of quality, quantity and value, and I couldn’t fault the service received as well, so all in all the Mariners Hotel bar saved the evening.
