Very much the dining pub, every table, barring two tall ones tucked behind the entrance, was laid out with engraved wooden placemats. Basically one long room with a brick fireplace to the left and the counter to the right. As well as a selection of usual suspect kegs including two ciders on solos and a T-bar, there are four hand pumps, Taylor’s Landlord, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin plus two more interesting locals from Yorkshire Heart and Ainsty. Quality wasn’t bad, a tadge above average. Interesting mix of floor treatments if you’re from that industry, pale grey woodwork and there’s an unusual craved counter front. Interesting decor including a pot of fairy lit twigs! The only other lunchtime customers were a quartet of ladies who lunch, followed by a funeral party from the nearby crem’, it may not always be so jolly. Not the best staff but these are troubled times, short measures, unfocused and showing a lack of priorities. It’s got a back yard.

A tastefully-decorated village pub largely given over to dining. The single large room is smartly done-up in a pastel green colour scheme, with a couple of nice fireplaces and painted timber half-panelling. Virtually all the tables were laid up for dining and seemed nearly all reserved, apart from an alcove in the front right window which had a couple of high tables and stools. Outside, the large garden includes a tabled patio area, children's play area and a grassy part beyond. Three ales on offer were a little too cold but otherwise in good condition: TT Landlord, Ossett White Rat and Ansty What did the Romans ever brew for us. Fair dos if they are making their money from food but I would have liked to see more space for drinkers, otherwise a pleasant pub.
