White painted (hooray!) village pub, roughly L shaped inside with the counter along the long side. The short side is marked “Family Room” and has table and chair furnishings with a couple of banquettes, there’s a small snug at the far end of the main bar. The main bar is similarly furnished, not a lot of decoration, just a few pictures including one of a ship and a few ship models of course. There’s a rack of old GBGs and various local mags including Ouse Boozer. Carpet and flag floors, the usual offices are in a corridor behind the counter. Four pulls in two double banks, a brace of Landlords and a single Proper Job, alongside a T-Bar and a few solos. Beer Quality was just above average it is a regular in the GBG, however the service was outstanding. Number 5 bus stops nearby.

A good, lively village local. Traditionally furnished and L-shaped, with a small dining area at one and a larger 'family room' along the side. Outside there is a covered smoking area to the side and a large, tabled garden with children's play area at the back. TT Landlord seems to be the regular beer with other guests which on this visit were both from Helmsley - Yorkshire Legend and Striding the Riding - and very drinkable too. Food is good honest pub grub, home-made and substantial. A friendly pub and worth visiting if in the area.
