A thriving village pub with a healthy food trade but still keeping a strong local following. Three areas to the right hang round the bar counter, with a log burner between the front two and a larger room with dartboard to the rear. On the left side is a restaurant area, but people are just as likely to be eating in the bar. Furnishings and decor are pretty traditional and the place generally is bright and cheerful, as is the service. Three handpumps offered Theakstons Best, TT Landlord and Hambleton Stud Blonde, which was in excellent condition. Food is home made and very good, albeit not cheap. Generally a good pub.
