Graham Coombs left this review about Stone Roses Bar
A student music bar with a monochromatic colour scheme, livened up by numerous murals, video screens, neon lights and assorted memorabilia in all directions. An upstairs balcony overlooks proceedings, while two pool tables provide entertainment if the music isn't enough for you. The bar holds a row of mainstream keg taps, with a solitary Bradfield Farmers Blonde on handpump in just about passable condition. I might have given it an extra point if the music was decent, but it was definitely the wrong genre for me.

Gimmick bar which mainly focuses on said band though anything Manc/90s indie seemingly goes - with Oasis being the main beneficiaries and much like a cancer I suspect they will end-up spreading more over time. One cask, Bradfield Farmer's Blonde at a faintly silly 3 quid a half and not that good (NBSS 2, aspirator) with haughty and surly service, perhaps to be expected from a barman who clearly doesn’t realise that there’s a difference between being a talented musician and a talentless pot-boy. A one-tick wonder with little to really recommend it outside of middle-aged reminiscing of a bygone age.

Stone roses bar is now a student led late night bar/venue for good jukebox rock music and cheap spirits deals. This is very popular on student nights and gets very busy, not usually my sort of place but they do play very good music and it has a very good atmosphere when busy in the evenings. Two floors offer tabels and chairs as well as a space for dancing.
The bar choice used to be very very poor but there was a renovation a few months ago and they now have two hand pulls on the bar. There is no sign indicating what they are, just that one is a real ale and one is a real cider. I tried to inquire what the beer was i was ordering but was simply told "a blonde one" so cannot tel if it a house beer or a Thwaites beer in disguise. Whatever it was it was expensive at £3.50! Guinness and Newdastle brown are also very over priced at £3.90 and £.50 respectively.
This bar serves its purpose and has been improved somewhat with the new bar offer now available. it also serves until 2:00 am every morning, worth a visit if this is your sort of thing.

Old Boots left this review about The Stone Roses Bar
Largely vertical drinking bar with various pastimes and games machines inc boxing machine and pool table. A few stools shelves and highish tables, there is also a mezzanine seating area. Looks like it's a major music venue although not live it appears. Expect little from the wide range of national keg brands. Album cover, band photos and scooter decor. Also shows live sport on big screen.

Needless to say lots of stone roses memorabilia on the walls as well as other music related pictures. Live music advertised.

This pub used to be called The Grapes and was a Stones house in the early 80s.
It is fairly close to the river and it is now a Thwaites house but does not have any real ale on,this pub is mainly used by rockers and heavy metal types and is not the sort of place you would take your mam in.
