Old Boots left this review about Clockhouse
A large estate deco style pub on a roundabout a little to the south of Acomb. The last time I tried to visit it was closed and had builders doing something. This time I feared the same but found a door open, it was dark and quiet so I thought I was going to meet a builder but there was just an old bloke drinking John Smiths Smooth and a distracted barmaid in a second bar. The interior is semi circular with a large pool room in the left quadrant with four tables and access to a counter, the right segment has tall table seating, two darts boards and a big screen then further round clockwise past an unused counter is a fairly blank space with another pool table and the main counter. Leatherette banquettes with a couple of tables plus more high seating its not the most comfy of spaces. Decor here is large murals of sporting heroes and a racing Ferrari, there’s also a big screen, not sure why there are two gents toilets in a vestibule off here which also houses a games machine. The main counter serves a normal range of UK kegs on three T-bars and three solos, the servery serves the pool room as well. After a while the barmaid decided it was too quiet and put some music on, she really shouldn’t have.

An impressive inter-war building, which is about the nicest thing I can say. Much messed about with, and still in a state of ongoing refurbishment, but basically consisting of a series of vast sports bars round a central servery with minimalist (basic) decor enlivened by huge murals. One room has innumerable pool tables, one has pool and darts, with a few large screens scattered about. Nothing of note on the bar, of course: John Smiths Smooth crap, Neck Oil and Caffreys are the bitters. You can only imagine what it was like when new, but nowadays only visit if you are desperate for a game of pool or to watch the footy.

The Acomb is a very large 30s built pub in the middle of the acomb estate.
The first room i went in had handpumps on the bar but no clips on this room was very basic with a pool table in it and this room was quite busy i walked through to the next room and this was very big and very basic this room also had a pool table in it and there was an handpump on the bar with John Smiths cask this was a decent drink,i could see over the bar to another room at the rear and this had four pool tables in it and all were being used.
This was a very basic pub but it was quite busy with locals.
