A good looking pub, but some of the paint is flaking, when you look closely. Inside it's interesting, with a painting on one wall that imagines a scene on the nearby river, looking towards Sheffield in the 19th century. There seemed to be some sort of works Christmas do going on when I called in, with a mass of 20 or more blokes stood around the bar, and a buffet to the right. With judicious use of my elbow I managed to get served fairly quickly. Despite what the pub's website says, there is no cask beer on the bar - they say "real ale", so perhaps there are some bottles? I had a Guinness, which was not too cold, but quite steep I think, at £4.80/pint. This place is quite large and I was able to find a quiet corner away from the hubbub around the bar. It's hard to know what to make of this pub. They seem to be pitching themselves at users of the facilities at Valley Centertainment, and fans of Sheffield Steelers ice hockey team, to judge by their website and Facebook, neither of which is up to date.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Noose & Gibbet Inn
Surprisingly basic, old-fashioned boozer on the periphery of the modern Centertainment complex. Partly opened-out to leave a L-shaped bar, but apart from a pool table and a very large pub dog, little else to note. No real ale of course, and just the likes of John Smith's (£3.50) on the keg taps.

A really nice-looking pub, with hanging baskets and hanging criminal in the best gory tradition of British celebration of capital punishment. It's had a modern refurb inside, in reasonable taste and not out of keeping with the building. However, on the bar were just usual suspect lagers and smooths. There's clearly no call for real ale around here. In fact, the whole pub was completely deserted (about 3pm Sunday), so there was no call for anything at all, and certainly nothing to tempt us to stay, so we left.
