Bucking Fastard left this review about Rise @ The Hallamshire
A very traditional exterior with glazed tiling and featuring the name of the former brewery owner Greaves and Co,the interior has been largely stripped out to form a modern bar. There is a seating section to the left of the front door with canteen type tables and chairs while the main body of the pub has several high tables and chairs and a few sofas. The serving bar on the right hand wall only dispenses kegged lagers and beers from the usual suspects but Staropramen is available. There is a pool table to the rear and a large external courtyard with more seating, metal this time. There is a modern cooking area open for all to see by the bar with a pizza oven and a cook busily preparing lunchtime food. That was the purpose of my visit and I though the pub grub style food was well cooked and very reasonably priced, there were even a choice of fresh salads. The bar service was unfailingly polite and the musak wasn't oppressive.
I would expect the night time experience to be very different ,there is a large mixing desk placed infront of an unused fireplace and the space for vertical drinking must come in handy given the proximity of other bars, clubs and the University of Sheffield.
A good lunchtime venue when the bar was quiet for a quick bite, this place needs a younger reviewer than me to comment on the bar culture at night in order to achieve an accurate overall picture.
