We called in here on our Thursday afternoon crawl, where we met a very welcoming barman and a couple of locals at the bar and were soon chatting away. I started the conversation about how hilly Sheffield was and that I felt like a mountain goat.
This is a good sized traditional pub, with a good selection of various seating areas. Five handpumps with four on serving Farmers Blonde, Abbeydale Moonshine, Tetley's and Thornbridge Green Mountain. We went for the Abbeydale and ended staying for two, as the quality was excellent.

Although only a 15 minute walk from my house, I had been in the Broomhill fewer than a dozen times until last year, when a series of Luton Town games on Sky tempted me in. Tonight's visit is the first not prompted by football, so it seems pretty quiet. I've always found it friendly - even last week when the Hatters played the Blades on TV, and people who spotted the badge on my shirt all asked me what I was doing here, and never with any hint of rivalry or hostility. Sheffield, the friendly city!
It's a small, multi-roomed pub with a modicum of opening out. It's intimate compared with a lot of pubs in this style, and it's well maintained and clean, and the staff are welcoming and helpful.
There are four hand pumps on the bar, with Tetley's, Bradfield Farmers Blonde and Abbeydale Deception and Moonshine. Maybe too many beers, but they're usually in good or better condition, and I've only once had to change a beer that was at the bottom of the barrel.
