Blue Scrumpy left this review about Pickled Parson
Not originally on my list of pubs to visit whilst in Sedgefield, this proved to be the highlight and was also where I had my favourite tipple of the day.
Similar to the Impeccable Pig opposite, it's fairly upmarket with customers ordering more bottles of wine than beers. Although, maybe this was more to do with the type of customers who were out that night, with an afternoon horse racing meet having been held in the afternoon. In fact, I had to wait quite a while whilst the barmaid struggled to open one of two bottles of wine ordered by two semi-inebriated customers. After they'd paid their bill for the round of £60+, I ordered my much cheaper half of Three Brothers Amarillo Pale. The other real ale was Pennine Pacific.
The interior feels quite modern and almost like a wine bar, with quite a few wooden pillars to help sub-divide things a little. The pub overlooks the village green.
