A fabulous looking building from the outside and still retains some internal features such as the large open fireplace with a sandstone surround. More internal features was the decorative plaster frieze around the tops of the walls and the original bar counter. Four pumps with three in use serving Wainwright, TT Boltmaker and Landlord. Well worth a look in and the beer was ok.

Due to a cancelled train I made a return visit to this large Ember Inns pub themed, down market restaurant next to the railway station. There’s very little to interest anyone otherwise, some original features do survive higher up and here and there but mostly it’s identikit corporate family dining. The outside is admittedly a very impressive Victorian building. Five pulls with Wainwright Gold, Leeds Pale, Black Sheep Bitter and a reversed Pedigree clip, the fifth was occupied by a cider. I gave the Black Sheep a NBSS 2.

Some people do not rate Ember Inns, but I don't mind them as at least they keep a strong commitment to real ale and they tend to retain pub features rather than going too far down the dining experience route, even if the corporate decor is a bit tedious. This particular example is in a rather splendid old Victorian gothic building next to the station. Various areas are arranged round a central bar and there is a large patio garden area outside. Ales on were Purity Mad Goose, Leeds Pale and the house Twilighter from Black Sheep. In common with other Ember Inns, ales are discounted on Mondays and Thursdays.

An Ember Inn, the closest pub to Horsforth railway station, a bit of a pubs-R-us venue in typical modern dining pub style probably ok for a swift one while waiting for a train. Hopelessly understaffed on a Saturday evening when I was waiting for a train so I can't comment on the beer quality as railway timetables don't wait on the convenience of Ember Inns, meaning I didn't actually get served in the 10 minutes I spent in the place. 8 pulls in a bunch of 5 and 3 on the two faces of the counter – always a problem for inept bar staff I grant you, national and local beers in evidence plus the usual kegs.

Very good renovations make this a most comfortable pub to have a great meal in. None of the old character has been lost.
Good selection of draft beers and a good menu at reasonable prices.

I currently live in benidorm in Spain and recently brought my new husband Steve over to show him the area i came from and local pubs etc. This pub was his favourite. It is very warm, homely and welcoming with settees and comfy chairs. Just like someones front room. The food was fantastic and very good value.
