Old Boots left this review about The Engine 3844

A white faced pub with a name celebrating Hunslet’s engineering heritage, the type of engine is not specified as indeed neither is the origin of the newer suffix of “3844”. An L shaped modern interior, most walls and the counter are covered with fake bricks or in places some chunky planks, another wall is dark painted and has screens. The counter has a bit of corrugated iron frontage as well. The furniture by contrast is banquette seating at Britannias or cast iron base tables with traditional wooden four leg stools or the odd Windsor style chair. The button back banquettes do have fake crystal buttons. There are quite a few screens and of course piped music. One end has a small stage with a dance floor in front set into the laminate floor. The toilets are behind a tasteful wood and plastic foliage screen. Beer wise fairly standard for these parts on a trio of T-Bars. Usual afternoon mix of sweary, bantering, old blokes on cheap lager and laughing a lot, only one gave me the evil eye by the way, most unusual for this parochial area. No doubt it’s different in the evenings as shown on their socials.
