A large terraced Barras chain pub and eatery. The place is a little incongruous compared to the neighbours, being in what i assume is a 1920s mock-Tudor style. saying that, it looks neat, with the lower half in exposed brick, with the upper in white and black beam. There are a couple of bay windows, a row of dormer windows on top and a projecting turret in one corner. There is a patio at the back.
The interior is a large open-plan expanse around a central wood serving bar. It is mainly set-up for food of course, but i didn't eat so can't comment on that - it seemed to be a general enough menu. The decor is a common enough mix of half red and half dark embossed red wallpaper, with some red and black patterned wallpaper and wood panel. There is a patterned carpet and a white moulded ceiling. There is a pool table and dart board towards the back. The walls had old photos, sporty cartoons, mirrors, royal crests and other general stuff on for interest and there is a nice fireplace with wood surround. The service was fine and a few locals were in, as well as families eating. The TVs had sport on and there was no music in the background.
Beer; usual tap stuff with Wadsworth 6X and a rather poor Brains SA on handpull.
It is a run-of-the-mill foody family chain place. On the plus side it has pub games and the service was fine - the downside was really, despite having real ale, the somewhat poor quality. The place 'does what it says on the tin'.

A Barras pub, part of the Spirit Group, a little out of the city centre. The car park is around the back, entrance between two garage units, its flat and entrance is easy for a wheelchair. The pub is one one level . Poole Table at the back,TV screens in the middle and a quieter talking area at the front.Someone has used their head on this layout. Not to crowded a layout either. Cheap food and house wine cannot recall the beer. A no frills pub used by the locals.
