More of interest for its history.

Currently up for sale by Marstons. Got an end of days feel, with no cask available and Cruzcampo coming in at an eye watering £6.15.

Its named after a 500 year old tree - supposedly mentioned by Charles I when fleeing the battle of Worcester. Other rumours exits. Incredibly, the tree is still standing - supported by struts and looking like its going to fall down. I've lived in the town 50+ years and didnt know the story...

See Mom, I dont just waste my days drinking expensive Spanish lager.

1930s (mock) coaching Inn, setup for family dining. Fireplace is nice. Didnt think a picture of the tree would be accepted :-)

Large roadside "food" pub. 3 ales on my visit - Hobgoblin, Banks's Amber and Thwaites Wainwright.

Big , mock black and white pub on a busy dual carriageway island. Usually takes me twice round the island before I locate the car park entrance. Once in its a reasonable size with disabled parking at the rear close to a ramp for entry to the large, baronial style bar.Easy all round for a wheelchair.
The beers, like the menu are Marstons who normally include a guest ale in their pubs. When I visit the Mitre I come to eat which means I drink wine not beer, so I will leave it to the next reviewer to report on that.
