Ex GBG so gave it a go. Main bar is surprisingly trad in a 60s refit manner; artex and wood beam inlay walls, sodium style lighting etc all of which I rather like, so I was happy enough. Surprisingly there were five pumps with a samey style selection of local micro/regional – too many on given the place was quiet (in stark contrast to the Weavers a few mins away). My choice of Three Tuns Best tasted a bit diacetyl but I judged it to be a brew fault as opposed to serve – though a top-quality alehouse would have whipped it off and sent back as ullage (NBSS 2). Taciturn (though I decided probably autistic) barmaid. One of the few pubs nowadays that retains a selection of daily papers, so a point for that. Fans of aged smut will enjoy the pictures of Edwardian ladies in their knickers in the gents. I quite liked it here despite the iffy beer and would happily give it another go. 6.5

Good Beer Guide 2019 Entry.

The bar is a good approximation of a pub - with nick nacky decorations, collections of Good Beer Guides, rules of the tavern posters etc.

Horseshoe bar with high stools all around. Wooden tables with 4 wooden seats. Big windows overlooking the road.

Five real ales on - I can remember HPA, Malvern Hills Brewery Bitter and Hopback Summer Lightening (chosen). In decent condition.

This was our first port of call on our trip to Great Malvern. This place was not on our hit list of places to visit and decided to give it a go. To our surprise the bar in here was better than we expected, there were four very well kept ales and the cobs were superb.
We went for the Malvern Hills Green Pear, Woods Shropshire Lad and one from Holts.
The barman was friendly and gave us good advice on which pubs to visit. Opens at 10.30am
