Ian Mapp left this review about The Malvern Tavern

This is a real surprise.

Look on Google Maps and it still shows the photo for a dilapidated Cross Keys.

Yet October 2024 has seen it have a make-over and renamed the Malvern Tavern.

Its hosted in a very quiet back street in North Malvern - not on any bus route and a fair hike from the main road at Malvern Link. I cannot imagine it getting too much passing trade - which is a shame and I fear may impact its ultimate success.

Inside, its all done out very nicely, open plan but not in a cosy, pubby style. I believe the bar is made deliberately high to avoid bar hangers/stools.

Its going to have its own brewery - the kit is all there - and their own cask beers (I believe called Friday?) are contract brewed. There were a couple of these and as many again of guests. The Friday Gold was in excellent condition but maybe a little pricey at a £5

But I completely missed the electronic beer menu and a side wall of many, many keg options. Behind the wall is a 4 degree chiller room. It was a smorgsaboard of beery delights from UK Craft, Belgian and German. The landlords philosophy is you can drink bottles at home. He has an excellent supplier.

Honestly, the range of choice would not be out of place in a big city bar.

How its going to fare in a Malvern residential back street is anyone's guess!

Keeps good traditional daily opening hours too.

I wish them all the best!
