Clearly connected to the Talbot, seemingly incorporating the former stable area. It has front and rear patios. A bizarre L-shaped room where the serving bar appears at the end of the 'L'. It is finished in white artex and red, with black beam and looks good. TV had sport on and there appeared to be two lots of music - which was a little strange. Good service, with a few people in - and a dartboard. There were three ales on, with a very good Hobsons Pale. A nice visit and definitely would return.

Tucked away down the side of the Talbot you could easily miss this pub - and that would be a shame as it is a decent place.
Very busy when I called with plenty of people watching the Horse racing.
3 ales on - HPA, Hobsons Pumped Up Pale and Wye Valley Totem.
The 2 I tried were excellent.
Well worth a visit.

Ian Mapp left this review about The Stable Tavern

Physically connected to the Talbot and presumably the former stable block. It is totally independent and as of my 2026 visit, it is celebrating 10 years.

Packed full of pensioners - I know it was a Wednesday afternoon but again, I can only guess that some sort of pensioner special must have been on. It was uncanny.

Low ceiling and bar at the far end. 2-3 cask on and the Butty Bach was in great condition.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Stable Tavern

At first glance, the Stable Tavern looks as if it ought to belong to the Talbot which fronts Cleobury Mortimer's main street. It's hidden away behind the Talbot through a passageway leading to a car park.

There are two or three doors, a couple leading into the lounge and another into the separate bar. Just a handful of locals were gathered in the lounge on our Wednesday afternoon visit. There may well have been more in the bar.

The two real ales on were Ludlow Gold & Wye Valley HPA. A third handpull was clipped with Thatcher's Stan's Cheddar Valley. Cobs were on sale behind the bar, whilst some kind of sport was being shown on a TV above one of the entrances.

All in all, not a bad pub.
