Old school locals pub. Very friendly service. Nothing interesting drinks wise so it was a Guinness for me. Happy enough to have popped in but no real reason to return.

The Old Peacock is an imposing pub with a front tile floored bar that has an L-shaped keg font lined serving counter across the rear wall. To the left of the counter is a dartboard and seating runs under the front windows either side of the entrance. It was empty in here so I made my way through to the back where the locals were playing darts and pool while watching darts via Sky Sports on a small television. A log fire was crackling away opposite the rear serving counter, which again was lined with standard keg. The service was friendly and the locals, many of whom were wearing hi vis, all seemed harmless enough. Fans of estate boozers will like it in here.

At the age of 55, I am finally brave enough to make a visit which had almost legendary status for roughness when I started going to pubs.
Almost disappointed by its normality. A friendly greeting on arrival. Central bar with two room off it - make you way to the rear bar for a wood fire on full pelt. A smattering of regulars, all wearing safety jackets and knowing each other by name and oddly drinking canned thatchers. No cask on.... decent enough Guinness. Pool table. Several TVs showing sports.
