Unusual looking place from outside and the interior looks like it has had a good quality refurb very recently. Quite big inside with a central staircase (to a performance room hosting live music and comedy nights) and four discrete seating areas. Four well selected ales – I tried the Bewdley Red Hill on my first visit (NBSS 4) and Theakston Peculiar IPA (also 4) with others sampled (and unrecorded) at the end of the following day. Jimbo found one of his 1001 Beers To Try Before You Die in the fridge, so a bonus point there. Snacks noted from the Wyre Pie Company - sausage rolls, scotch eggs, pies etc - and also cobs. We had a good chat with the engaging owner as well. All-in-all, this was my favourite in Kidderminster (just) and I’d say it’s one of the best I did in 2025.

Decent pub which is about a 10 minute stroll from the train station. Well described below this place is popular with locals. 4 ales on when I called including one from Brothers Of Ale and Home tree from Copper Beech brewing. I went for the latter and it was in good nick. Well worth a visit.

I think my recent Thursday evening visit to the Chester Tavern was in a live music break because it was busy with all the tables taken and there was band equipment set up along the rear wall, but no sign of any band members. This L-shaped pub is carpeted throughout apart from black and white tiles from the entrance to a central staircase and around the L-shaped serving counter in the left rear corner. Red banquettes are found under the windows either side of the entrance and open plan seating runs across the centre of the pub. Craft keg and Guinness were available alongside four hand pumps that were drawing Green Duck’s Labyrinth, Wye Valley’s HPA, Hobson’s Equinox and Bewdley’s Red Hill. This is a popular local pub that is worth a look if up this way.

Terraced pub on a main road. Looks like its been a pub since the mid C19th and recently refurbed to a high standard in 2021. Really have to want to go there, as out of town and not really near other premises - although a 10 minute walk from the Station (in the other direction to town).

Good beer selection - with four cask, several kegs all changing frequently. 15 LA/NA beers also available on a list.

Real selling point is the entertainment in an upstairs room. I was watching the top 40 folk 2023 albums (I am cliche man) and was alterted to Gaz Brookfield being #1. A quick glance at his tour schedule and I saw he was playing a (sold out) show here.

What finally got me to make the pilgrimage was the monthly comedy - 4 acts for a tenner in an upstairs room (with bar)( holding around 50 punters? Top billing was Andrew Bird, who has toured extensively with Michael McIntyre/Russell Howard and others and has won Comics Comic of the year 2023. Playing upstairs in a Kiddy pub.

What's not to like.

Great to see a community pub so busy.

Sure to be back next month.
