Hanbury is an out of the way sort of place near Droitwich and Bromsgrove with a surprisingly large hotel considering the size of the village and the lack of passing trade.
Looks like it was once a double-fronted house much extended over the years, recent landscaping outside with a stream and little bridge from the car park. The recent refurbishment inside is, to say the least, odd. From the car park you walk past the reception into a sort of public bar entirely furnished with high tables and stools. Then there's another room with one large table and some truly weird chairs with eight foot high backs. Keep going and you get to the front bar and finally find some usable furniture and welcoming open fire. There's a restaurant further on.
We seemed to arouse suspicion while we were scouting round looking for somewhere we could sit easily but then service was friendly and the Hancocks HB (look, I like it, don't judge) was spot on. There was also Worcestershire Way from Bewdley amongst a selection of usual suspects which I noticed too late to try.
As a pub it's fine for what it is and worth calling in if exploring the area or perhaps after looking around the nearby Hanbury Hall
