Nice enough pub right by the river. No real ales any more so I had a pint of Shipyard. OK to pop in for the location but shame there is no ale!

Riverside pub in the centre of town, modernish in side, tables on the road at the front. Friendly staff

Achingly trendy place on the riverside, almost adjacent to the Mug. Two bars. Crimes against good taste included banquettes made from the rump area of old jeans and a fake support pillar made of books. The bar looks like something out of the industrial zone of the Crystal Maze (or maybe Bladerunner), bits of steel wire and corrugated wall cladding. Metro tiled wall tiling at least added an element of sanity. Presumably an unbranded Marstons outlet judging by the three ales; Brakspear Oxford Gold, Jennings Cocker Hoop (uninspiring) and Marstons EPA. Quirky or calamity? You decide.
