Previously The Paulet Arms, and before that The Lamb, this village pub has been refurbished and forms part of a complex with a farm shop and its own micro brewery. There is a small car park at the front, and a large, pleasant garden at the rear. Which has a pizza oven and bar in the Summer months. You enter into the main bar area which is stone floored and has retained earlier architectural features including beams and a large chimney breast; the latter has been opened on both sides to heat the bar and the adjacent dining room. The dining room feels a bit like a barn conversion, and there are wooden stairs leading up to the first floor, presumable where the accommodation is (they offer B&B). There were 5 or 6 ales on handpump, all their own brews. I went for the Best Bitter, which was in excellent condition and most enjoyable. Food is restaurant standard from local sources, predictably expensive though. It’s decent enough, and I’d be happy to come back for lunch or just a few pints.
