E TA left this review about Walnut Tree Inn
A late 20th Century pub on a small development at the edge of a small market town. It offers B&B and is largely food led. There is a large covered seating area at the back but no real garden. There is also a smaller paved smoking terrace at the front, and there is a carpark. The single bar/dining room is mainly laid to table though there are one or two barstools at one end of the bar. The flooring is a mix of tiles and timber, and there are some exposed beams which are more decorative than structural. The food is good quality pub standards, slightly high in price but not extortionate. Ales on were a special from Wessex Brewery – Walnut – plus Tribute and Butcombe Original; the beers were in OK condition. The staff were friendly enough and the clientele were mainly locals, but a big downside for a local is that dogs are not allowed in. A decent enough place to eat and drink if you’re in the area.
