Another one I’d forgotten I’d done. Traditional pub that has succumbed to the grey gloop of a modish paintbrush though I see that it has replaced the salmon’s backside shade of yore, so maybe a minor improvement. Some traditional touches remain and the servery is attractive. Of note is a tidy snug room off right on entry. CAMRA awards dating from a decade ago are picked out on the high shelves alongside a small collection of jugs; the latest is Rural Pub of the Year 2023 – ‘rural’ is a bit of a stretch given it's in the suburb of Warminster. Three cask; 2x St Austell and Proper Job with Abbot as the third. Rich's Farmhouse cider also on. Cheap prices, £3.70pp. My Proper Job was obviously the first one out for a while but serviceable (NBSS 2.5) in the context of a hot balmy day. Polite service and a nice atmosphere. GBG'23 listed. Reading the two reviews together, there’s clearly a happy well-supported pub here.

Ten minutes out of town, this is a two-bar local. Snug room to the right and public bar (with a further screened-off area to its rear housing darts and pool) to the left of the porchway. Apparently there’s a skittle alley but I didn’t spot it. Everyone was settled in the left bar and there was a healthy attendance for a weekday afternoon. Basic decor. salmon paint (yuk) and aged carpet. Large screen was showing mute Sky news. Some interesting old brewery jugs on a shelf with the pub’s CAMRA awards stencilled on the self-same. Three ales - Foxys Best, Wessex Warrior (very good, though some sediment) and GK Abbot as well as two ciders (Rich’s Farmhouse and Thatchers Traditional). Cheap, £2.80 for a pint of ale and £2.10 for cider. A good little locals boozer that is well-worth the walk out from town. Rated 7
