Corner pub off the main drag. A number of small rooms knocked together inside, though there's a couple of cubby holes available. Trying (probably from an old refurb) to be a ‘country pub in the city’ the decor has red pub carpet and hunting print wallpaper. However the TV football, over-dominant pool table by the bar and the garish posters rather kill that atmosphere. Two pumps, with just Ringwood on. The resultant half was awful and got dumped, perhaps no surprise given the goldfingered barmaid didn’t even know where the ale pump was. There’s potential for a nice little pub here but on this showing I won’t be venturing in again.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Huntsman Tavern
Old-fashioned side-street pub, with a partially opened-out interior - leaving three seating areas in total - but the main one includes the bar and the two pool tables. Traditional furniture and decor. However, I was disappointed to find just the seasonal Jennings Red Breast (£3.60) from the pair of handpumps on the counter.

A lively community pub dating from the 19th Century, The Huntsman is a corner pub in the backstreets just off the City centre. The single L-shaped bar is carpeted and has recently been redecorated. The main theme is pub sports: the majority of the main bar area's floorspace is taken up by two pool tables, and there are lots of trophies on display - pool, darts and so on. There are annoying games machines, and there is a coffee machine on the bar which nicely complements the availability of newspapers if you want the pub atmosphere but not a beer. Poker and Sky Sports events are advertised. It' very much a locals' pub, and although there was one ale on - Ringwood Best - it wasn't very well kept. A pleasant enough pub, but mainly for the locals.
