Traditional small boozer with low ceiling, beams and a general air of being well lived-in. A raucous crowd in for the rugby, busiest pub of the day by far. Three pumps dispensing Flack Manor Double Drop and Golden (NBSS 3) and Hop Back. Good fun, although the guv’nor was a bit taciturn. WhatPub suggests bar billiards but I didn’t see a table. Worth dropping in if you enjoy a tight local with good beer. 7.5

The Bear is a single room old town pub on the main road through Wilton, whose clientele mainly consists of locals and a few CAMRA pilgrims. It's pleasant, atmospheric and welcoming and has retained most of its old town charm, aided by the log fire but slightly tainted by the gamign machines. The staff are very friendly and happy to pass the time. Three ales on, all Badger - I had a pint of Best which was in perfect condition. This unpretentious local is well worth a visit for a pint if passing and is an essential part of any Wilton crawl.
