Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Red Lion

Thatched Chef & Brewer pub, located in a prime position in the centre of the Neolithic world heritage centre. Originally a farmhouse but much extended and remodelled inside over the last two centuries, with the semi-traditional look to the various seating and dining areas that most visitors will be expecting. Also has plenty of wooden benches in the front patio garden. The 'house' Avebury Wellwater (3.9%), C&B Brewer's Pale Ale and the seasonal Spring Break, all from Greene King no doubt.

I have fond memories of this pub, when it was a truly great establishment. It still is a fantastic building, in an awesome setting, but sadly it's let down by the standard of the food and drink, and by the miserable staff.

It can get incredibly busy, especially in summer, and you can't help but feel its owners see it as something of a cash-cow. It has the potential to be a great place again, but at the moment the emphasis seems to be more on belting out below average and overpriced food and ale.
