Cheerily modernised Waddies pub with three rooms off the central bar. Friendly barmaid and fruity locals who knew all the local characters, including the local scrote who got his arse handed to him by the bikers in the town square as we observed from within. Six sticks with four Waddies and Old Rosie cider available. My Henry's was in good shape (NBSS 3.5). Fair crawl fodder. 6.5

A former coaching inn, relatively unspoilt, which still does B&B.  It fronts onto the main shopping street and has a small, unremarkable garden at the rear.  Once inside there are three bar areas.  The first, on the left as you enter, is a public bar and has a dartboard.  On the right is a room mainly laid to table for diners, while there is a larger area at the back, again mainly tables although there is a second dartboard here.  Despite a recent refurb, the downstairs room feel very dated, or maybe it’s intentionally a 1970s theme.  The clientele are mainly older than average, but that doesn’t stop it being a lively local.  The landlady was welcoming and chatty, and the ambiance was convivial.  Food was basic pub grub though rather more up-to-date than the décor. There were 5 pumps on the bar but only two ales on, Henry’s and 6X, both in good condition.  Worth dropping in for a pint or two.

The Pelican is on the market place and is a Wadwotrhs tied house i had a drink of Henrys IPA and this was ok, it was fairly smart inside theres not alot more to say about this pub.
