Self-styled ‘carvery pub’ seemingly owned by Wadworth given the beer range. This basically means the place is an upmarket Toby Carvery. Large open plan two parter, recently redecorated with exposed ceiling vaulting. Every table set for dining, got asked twice if we were eating and were generally treated as an inconvenience (at least Toby are happy for people just to drink and provide a handful of tables for the purpose). The only place you seemingly can just drink is outside in the (admittedly well-done) grassed garden – although not much good on a damp blustery day. Despite actively discouraging drinkers there were four ales on 6X, Swordfish, Henry's and a new one on me called Optimistic (ironic…). At least my half of the latter was in decent nick, however that and a lemonade came to staggering £3.85. At least Dick Turpin went to the trouble of wearing a mask. In short – don’t bother.
