Graham Coombs left this review about The Angel Inn (JD Wetherspoon)
A surprisingly large Spoons, opened in December 2025 after major refurbishment of the former Italian restaurant which itself replaced the previous pub. There is an assortment of areas, joined together yet quite distinct, with the bar lurking somewhere in the middle. It is all smartly modernised as you might expect and seems to be extremely busy/popular, to the extent that the staff were struggling to keep up and punters were diverting to look for food elsewhere. A fair selection of guest ales were on hand with an emphasis on Yorkshire breweries, including Yorkshire Heart and Kirkstall. It will be interesting to see if some of the existing pubs up their game and cash in on the customer draw, or throw their hands in.

Old Boots left this review about The Angel / Sant Angelo
Recently (July 2010) split into a bar cum pizzeria downstairs called Sant' Angelo and a modern bar upstairs which retains the Angel name, however they are in the same ownership by the looks of things. The downstairs was still being completed but the upstairs, reached through the archway, is a wine bar type place although it has a fair number of the usual kegs on non-proprietary founts and dodgy Greene King IPA on a single handpump. Modern style furniture, ie very high and very low, a carpet with a weird design and orangey coloured walls make it stand out. It has a good view of goings on in the High St and Market Place below.
