Multi-room standalone pub in the Chapeltown area of Pudsey. A lounge and tap room + two 'snug' style rooms separate from the bar area, although one of these is sometimes shut if it's quiet. Very large beer garden with an area for cooking Pizza's/BBQs, although I've never seen it used. Used to do Pieminister pies during the week, but they appear to have stopped that at time of visit (June 24). Still do Sunday Lunches I believe. Best checking beforehand via their facebook page if you fancy food. Dart board in the room round the back of the bar.
Three cask, two from Black Sheep and Theakstons Old Peculiar. Amongst the kegs were Punk IPA and Tetley's Mild(!?). Old peculiar was £5.60, but rest were around £4.50. Have 4 Thatcher's ciders on keg as well. High rating because a 'proper' multiroom pub is hard to find these days.

The Royal is a stone built pub that is on the corner of station street and carlisle road.
Once inside there are three rooms which have been opened out to the main bar, there is a small bar room to the front right, this room had a tiled floor and bench seating, there are two other rooms to the left both square shaped,i had a drink in the rear room which is carpeted and has comfy bench seating this room faces the bar, there was a real fire on the go in this room, there is a small pool room to the rear left.
There were five real ales on the bar,two in the bar room and three in the main room,i had a drink of Ossett White Rabbit which went down well, the other beers noted were Leeds Pale,Theakston Old Peculiar and one from Ossett brewery.
I quite liked this pub.

Old Boots left this review about The Royal
A splendid Victorian building as befits its position opposite the site of Pudsey Station, it had deteriorated over the years but has been restored by the current owners. This has left a mix of old and new features but unmistakeably pubby. On entering you are in a narrow drinking space with the counter down one side, to the right is a bar with the other side of the U shaped counter and comfortable bench seating. To the left are two sitting rooms and then at the back a pool room which has a hatch for service. The five handpumps are split 3:2 either side of the counter and the beers were mainly from the Marstons stable on this occasion with Theakston Old Peculier in top form and a Copper Dragon also in fine form. I also noticed bottles from Flying Dog, Sierra Nevada and Brew Dog in the fridge. A bit out of the way but well worth a visit.
