This pub's strange history is that it was the only part of a hotel here that was not consumed by a devastating fire. "Vaults" implies a drinking establishment, but of course it could not have survived as that in this part of town. The bar has four hand pumps, but two are obscured by a small blackboard, while one has a rhubarb cider, leaving just one cask beer, Ossett Butterley, now just another ordinary 3.4%er. And I was charged £3.10 for a half - it's almost enough to drive a man to gin or single malt whiskeys. This was at least in very good condition, but can I imagine coming back for another? No, not really.

The Ilkley Moor Vaults is just round the corner from the Riverside Hotel.
I did'nt really like the look of this pub before going in.
Once inside there is an L shaped room with the bar facing, there was a nice real fire on the go to the right, there is a stone floor, the seating comfy pew seats and normal tables and chairs.
There is a separate room to the left.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Lees MPA which was a decent drink, the other beers were Taylor Landlord and Theakston Green Hop.
Food was being served on my Saturday afternoon visit.
This is a decent enough pub to have a couple of drinks in.

Slightly odd shaped but basically an open plan L with two rooms, there is the semblance of an old pub lurking there with the tongue & groove, bench seating and flag floors. The L shaped bar has two banks of four pulls with a mix of the Heinekin range and Taylors landlord. The beer quality isn't bad but the staff are a bit lackadaisical. There are rather too many tea lights lit up just after 5pm.
Doesn't open until 12 on Saturdays.
