A traditional pub with low ceilings, with a mix of timber and flagstone floors, two large fireplaces with cast iron grates either end of the front lounge areas. There was seven handpumps in operation on our visit, so we went for the Kelham Island Easy Rider and their house ale Slaughtered Lamb. Their beer was good and this was another busy place on a Saturday afternoon.

Called in last night after a trip to Mallinsons brewery. This obviously used to be a multi roomed pub, but the doors have been removed to leave one room with very distinct areas. Last night was poker night and two of the rooms were being used for this. There is another room with a pool table and a dartboard. There's also a big screen for sport. Only 1 handpump on the bar selling a very well kept pint of Copper Dragon Best Bitter. It's a pleasant, friendly local.
