Bucking Fastard left this review about The Shakespeare
A proper town centre boozer ,full of locals who clearly know each other very well but welcoming to strangers like ourselves.Expect multiple generations from the same family from tots in prams to great grannies and all between.Once you have sunk a pint and gone back to the bar for a second you are well in.
The tap room is immediately ahead from the front door, servery to the right, beyond which is the pool room.To the left is a room with bench seating around the periphery and this is the viewing spot for televised sports, terrestrial,Sky and Discovery.
The tap room also has a long banquette running under an outside window and there are other flatscreens, which may not show sport, day time tv was popular with some punters.
We were watching the cricket and soon got chatting to the regulars who sport of choice it is,this is Yorkshire after all.Even the local cricket team walked in after their nets.
Just one real ale but in good nick of Bradfields Farmers Blonde ,NBSS 3.5 which sailed past the three pint test. This pub was a lot better than I expected looking at the outside ,with wider ale choice it could even become a destination but in it's current form a very solid 6.
