Brainy Pool left this review about Cross Inn
Multi roomed village pub with a very grey interior, partly carpeted. It seems wet-led to me with a pool table and with a local atmosphere, although Thai food is on offer. There’s a fine range of ales on here but I just didn’t really take to the place. But i probably shouldn’t blame the pub itself for the presence of middle class twats. I preferred the more traditional charms of the White Lion but this does provide a more modern and lively alternative.

This pub used to be part of the Timothy Taylor estate, the only survivor in the immediate area being the Hare and Hounds across the Valley to the East.
It's set at the lower end of Towngate, a steep cobbled lane through the village.
As you enter there is a separate room to the left and a more open plan area to the right and ahead that wraps around the bar further on the right.
This bar has two sets of three hand pumps at the front and side. These had Worsthorne Old Trout & Redman, York Guzzler, Little Valley Cragg Vale Bitter,
Bradford Framboise and slightly disappointingly having travelled all the way from London Fuller's Front Row. There are at least two TVs both of which were on.
I went for the Worsthorne Old Trout (£3.60), a brewery I'd never even heard of but was a reasonable beer in good condition.
This is a nice enough village pub with an interesting range of mostly local beers but overall I preferred the other pub a few yards up the hill.
Heptonstall has a half hourly bus service from Hebden Bridge Rail Station and Town.
