A Heritage Pub, destination pub, ideal first/last pub from the station, very handy for football/rugby league ground, great Real Ale pub; The Three Pigeons is all of these. The Octagonal tiled bar area leads off to five differing small to large rooms. You can find a cosy corner in this quite large pub. The beer choice and taste was excellent. I assume absence from the latest beer guide is due to rotation, beer guide rules, or it has got just Too popular!

A fine pub indeed and well worth a visit as a destination pub alone. The main feature on entry is the lobby near the main entrance, with an 1930's octagonal mosaic floor. The ceiling in this area has also been painted Trompe L'oeil with a blue sky, clouds and three pigeons, around the perimeter.
The pub has three rooms leading off the central lobby and bar area. There are also two snugs situated at the rear, with a dart board in one, whilst the left hand side snug had a small stove.
The barmaid and other customers were all friendly and chatty. Eight ales and one cider on hand pump on our visit, with a great selection from Ossett of course. We tried a good few from Ossett and a guest, which was Hophurst Cosmati 4.2% from Wigan. Allow a lot of time to visit this pub as it's superb.

Extra stillage in the rear room again on this visit, but only 3 beers left there. The usual great range on the main bar though with 3 from Ossett and several guest ales. It was packed as usual, but we managed to get a seat in the rear room. All 3 of the beers I had were in great nick. It's a top pub.

Called in again after the Mayfest. Alongside the normal range of beers they also had a stillage set up in the back room with another 8 beers on. It's was such a nice day that the outside area at the front of the pub was full, as were all the rooms. It didn't matter, the service was still excellent. It's a must visit when in Halifax.

This brilliant pub won the CAMRA award a couple of years ago for the sympathetic restoration and attention to detail lavished on it by Osset Brewery. Well done guys. Has 7 handpumps usually with a couple of guests alongside the Osset brews. The beer is kept in perfect condition. Each of the rooms has it's own character and all are a bit quirky. Friendly, attentive service and great beer in a classic ale house. What more do you want? It's worth a visit to Halifax on the train for here and the Pump Room alone.

Old Boots left this review about The Three Pigeons

Great nineteen thirties interior in an older stone building, it is listed on CAMRA's national inventory, and has been neatly restored by the owners, Ossett brewery in an understated deco style. The heart of the pub is the mosaic floored lobby with the counter, complete with stained glass screens above, I am indebted to ROBCamra for drawing my attention to these details and indeed his informative guided tour. Leading off this lobby are a number of rooms in lounge style, at the back is another room with stripped pine furnishings in a more traditionally Tap Room style. The front room is decorated with many pictures of pigeons. It was very difficult to leave this fine, GBG listed pub with its wide choice of excellently kept ales.
