Sad that my visit to this lovely old pub was on its penultimate day of trading - the whole block is being demolished and replaced by ... another shopping centre. The building is about two hundred years old but not of sufficient merit to have been listed. The pub itself is a gem, with a great atmosphere and some excellent beers. There are some very good alternatives nearby, but this is a sad loss.

It has recently been confirmed that the last day of trading for The Pump Room will be the 30th March 2014. The pub will be demolished shortly afterwards as part of a town centre redevelopment scheme. Rumour has it that the site is earmarked for a car park! Its passing will be a significant loss to the local real ale scene.

Slightly reduced beer line up on our latest vist last weekend, but still plenty of choice. My pint of Salamander Abtu & Anet was in good nick. Plenty of people in the room to the left watching the Cup Final. A bit quieter on the right although TV was on. Very friendly pub.

Called in again after this years Mayfest to find that they had a beer festival on again. An extra 8 - 10 handpumps added to the already extensive range. Efficient staff and a friendly welcome means that we'll be back again soon.

Great pub with a constantly changing range of 7 or 8 well kept guest ales. A couple of years ago they had a beer festival to coincide with the main CAMRA one just up the road and had 30 beers on. Didn't have it last year for some reason. Two rooms, one to either side of the entrance door. The one on the left has some comfy seating and chairs whilst the one on the right is more bar stools etc. Loads of interesting photo's and bric-a-brac. It's a really good pub. We never miss this one when in Halifax. If you call in here and then walk a bit further on to the Three Pigeons you'll find enough different beers for anyone.

Traditional two room layout, one being more of a public and the other more a lounge, although the design is fairly open plan. Too many handpumps for me to count but all were selling beers from microbreweries near and far. UK kegs and Hoegaarden are also available. Furnished in old pine with upholstered benches this is a nice comfortable pub. Décor in traditional style, there are two clocks, one large, one small, and both showing different times, lots of interesting old photos and an enlarged copy of the first edition OS map showing a tiny Halifax. I have to say I prefered the Three Pigeons but this is still a decent boozer and handy for the station.
