The Big 6 is hidden away down streets of terraced houses,i found it hard to find after walking up from Sowerby Bridge, when i finally gave up and asked where the pub was,i found out i was only 50 odd yards from it.
Once inside there is a corridor and there are two small rooms off it to the right, these rooms have comfy bench seating but no bar,the main bar room is to the rear left, this is a smallish square shaped room which has comfy bench seating and small stools, there is another separate room to the rear which has a pinball machine in it.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Robinsons Dizzy Twisted Sister which went down very well, the other beers noted were,Hawkshead Lakeland Gold,Acorn Forestry and one from Bad Beer Company, which i think was called Boundary Brown.
This is a really nice unaltered pub.
I had a good chat with the landlady who said the pub is privatly owned.
This pub was well worth the walk.

A historic pub of regional importance and well worth a visit. Please note when visiting this pub you are made very welcome by the locals, so allow some time for a good old chat at the bar, whilst supping some very well kept ales.
Big 6 established itself as a pub in 1857, when the propery owner turned the middle terrace house into a beerhouse, with a brew shop and stables either side. The original name of the pub back then was known as the Bowling Green. This traditional pub consists of the central bar, a lounge on the right hand side with partitioned seating areas and a family room, on the left of the bar area.
Five ales on hand pump on our visit, we went for the Hawkshead Cumbrian 5 Hop and the Hanlons Firefly.

Well worth finding. Head from King Cross towards the old infirmary. After the mini roundabout you can see some terrace gable ends across the green. On the middle one there is a faint outline of a big '6'. The pub is made from knocking together several back to back houses and is full of character. Several rotating guest ales (5 I think) always in good condition.
