An estate type pub, long ago unsympathetically stripped out and made into a single room wrapped around a central bar. Much in need of a makeover, this pub is well and truly stuck in the 1990's, shabby furniture and carpets do nothing to lift the quite depressing interior. Currently run by Crown Carveries, the pub boasts a "Royal Roast" any day of the week from about 11 till 9pm. Dining had finished when we arrived at 9:30.
They did sell a decent pint of Harveys, (the reason it gets a 5) along with a guest of GK IPA. The wine was a little grim according to the wife and she opted for J2O on the second round. The only other drinks available were the usual euro fizz lagers and ciders.
Entertainment for the night consisted of a big screen TV showing the England/Peru friendly and a fight that broke out between two drunken locals, was taken outside and ended in a bottling with blood! Aparently this was round 2 after the same two blokes had been at it on a previous night.
You may be asking why we were drinking here, but as the only pub in the area within walking distance of a relatives house, we had little choice, other than beers at home, which might have been safer but less entertaining.
Probably won't rush back.
