This is a street corner local a short walk out of the town centre and away from the beach area. The old two room format is retained but you can link between the two inside. The front room is L-shaped and has a boarded floor with regular seating with the exception of a pair of rather tatty old sofas. The rear room is more like a public bar and was where most of the regulars were gathered, pool, darts and TV with Sky in here, the fireplace is no longer in use and has a vase of flowers on the hearth. Both ceilings are beamed, the public bar one being quite low.
Three real ales, two in the front room, one in the back, helpfully pointed out by the pleasant and friendly barmaid. Dartmoor Jail Ale, Hook Norton Lion and Otter Ale. There is a 20p/10p discount for CAMRA cardholders. Two pint carry outs are also available.
Food is basic pub stuff, pie and mash, burgers, ploughmans.
Having walked out from town to get here I was naturally a bit perturbed to find the place scaffolded however just an external lick of paint thankfully. A nice pub with good beer, a genuine welcome and proper pub atmosphere.
