This is a rather nice little pub tucked away just back from the beach in a little place called East Preston. It does look nice from the outside, but it has to be said that although the interior is pleasant enough, it's nothing special. Furnishings are normal tables and chairs, which is a big plus in my book; it's mainly carpeted; has a small car park; and a rarely seen bar billiards table. But for me the main feature here is the attractive garden with a good number of picnic benches, and which was well patronised when I visited at lunchtime on Friday. It's apparently dog friendly, as there were water bowls around the garden.
Unfortunately the ales on were somewhat disappointing with only London Pride and Doom Bar on, and with a further pump with a reversed clip. The food was reasonably priced. My companions and I opted for sandwiches, and although came up on a wooden tray, they were good quality and came with a good portion of chips, a bit of salad, and a little bowl of coleslaw. They cost about £7 - £8.
This is a decent enough pub. It's comfortable enough inside, but I guess that it really comes into its own when the sun's shining and it's warm enough to enjoy the garden.
