The Sportsman is a tiny pub with laminate flooring and dark green painted walls where a central L-shaped tile topped counter serves the main bar area up the left and a small area with a table, chairs and a sofa in the front right. In the main bar there’s some seating across the front wall and a banquette is found under some stairs at the rear where there’s also a high table. There was some background music playing off the jukebox and the television was muted with Six Nations build up during a recent Saturday afternoon visit when ten or so customers made the place comfortably busy. On the counter was a premium keg range alongside Neck Oil and two hand pumps, one of which was in use drawing Harveys’ Best. The service was polite, but I didn’t see anything that would have me rushing back.
