The Seal is a comfortably furnished pub with a reasonably-priced bar menu, as well as a more expensive and extensive restaurant option in the back room. On my recent visit, the handpumps offered a choice of Hophead or Wickwar's Falling Star, which was on good form. The pump clip collection above the bar hinted at an adventurous ale selection policy. Also on the pumps were a couple of Sea Ciders, with 2 Shipyard options offering a nod to craft keg, along with the usual lagers and stout. There was background music of the Radio 2 variety at a subdued volume.

With the food offerings and good quality beer, The Seal is reasonable pit-stop, but the (perhaps Covid-related) restricted ale choice means that it's not quite one for a full-on session right now.

Don't be put off by the spartan appearance, this pub is worth a visit. The dining area is nice, the food good and the real ales well-kept. Worth a visit.
