Strongers . left this review about The Martlets
The Martlets is a large sprawling family friendly Hungry Horse pub. One of those pubs that as a father I endure and as a man I avoid. Outside are lots of parking bays and picnic table strewn lawn areas. There is also a children’s play area full of climbing apparatus. Unsurprisingly the majority of this place is for dining, but there is a dedicated bar area with a couple of fruit machines and a television that was airing Olympics via BBC. Standard keg products are available from the bar alongside San Miguel. The three hand pumps were drawing Old Speckled Hen, GK IPA and Abbot Ale. Food is available all day.
The pub itself is very forgettable, but the awful service has stuck in my mind. Six young staff members ambling around the bar area and I still had to wait for an age to be served. There was only one other person at the bar and he also just wanted a pint. One of the girls was politely asked if she could serve and she snapped back that she was busy cleaning up customer’s mess… Wow, where do they find the staff and what the hell are the management playing at?
