Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Royal Oak
Older-style, side-street local with a repainted exterior that highlights various interesting decorative features. The wedge-shaped interior retains a separate bar and larger lounge, but both parts are reasonably comfortable in a traditional way. Also has a small patio beer garden at the back. I was slightly unlucky with the real ales on the five handpumps since three were being readied for the bank holiday weekend, but the Backyard Blonde (£3.85) was fine and Landlord was also being poured.

Called into this Good Beer Guide pub today and found the bar had 5 ales available and we chose St Austell Proper Job and Enville Ale which were fine. There were 3 TV's showing different sports programmes. A notice was advertising a poker night, and I feel this was very much a community local pub.

This is a great Victorian pub, with patio area. Built at the fork of two little side roads that in fact pre-date most of what is around the area, as the end of the road was housed a small arms factory at the end of the Victorian period and the pub no doubt served that. It is V-shaped, with a frontage in in cream with coffee painted window lintles and rustication. The interior has a couple of rooms, with a bar to the left on entry. This is in cream with blue seating and carpets, a brick chimney breast, with a TV (not on as nobody in there) and Baggies stuff on the walls. The main lounge was busy with locals and a real ale 'massive'. The room is in cream, with red carpet and seating and a white ceiling. The TV wasn't on and some Charles II pictures decorated the walls. The music was general and soft. The service was great. Beer; usual tap stuff with Spekky Hen, St Austell Tribute, Thwaites Wainwright and a decent Wye Valley HPA on handpull. A great little piece of history for the area - and simply decent to visit for beer if you don't care about that. Really enjoyed it.
