Ian Mapp left this review about The Prince of Wales

Gets four pages of text in the hot camra book of the moment - Desi Pubs by David Jesudason.

He states... it is like a building that has been shrink wrapped and shipped in from India, without being touched by British influence.

Alas, on a Tuesday the chef doesnt work - so the main reason for popping in was a fail. I did stop for a pint - no cask on and stella the best of the choice of keg lager. Enjoyed in a standard pub bar, with Teatime quiz shows on the wall mounted TV.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Prince of Wales

Initially looks more like an Indian restaurant (which it also is) than a pub, but once inside you first find the simply furnished bar area with another room off to the side. However, the larger canteen-style dining room lies further back and down a couple of steps. No real ale, and only a limited keg selection, so it was a quick Worthington's (£2.30) before moving on.

This is an end-terrace pub and Indian restaurant. The building looks like it was added to the side of King's Heath Place around 1900. It consists of a plain cottage with a front brick extesion, all in white render/paint. The front extension seems to be a rebuild. The interior has a couple of rooms. The main room has a bar area at the front, with a pool table and TV, with the footy on. At the back there is a restaurant area, with seating. The parallel side room also has a pool table and ends in a small stage area. It has Indian art on the walls. The service was fine and there was a good mixed clientele. Beer; no real ale, usual tap stuff - an a schoolboy error for not noting my drink, but think it was Banks's MILD. A general pub that does Indian food - nothing for the real ale fan.
