There are two entrances to the Island Inn with the bar being through the left-hand door and restaurant the right, I obviously bowled through the left. The wall between the bar and restaurant has been replaced by a glass wall and sliding glass door. This enabled me to see that there’s a front L-shaped bar counter that serves both the bar and the restaurant, which both had healthy numbers in attendance during a recent Monday early evening visit. Standard keg and Cobra were available alongside Staropramen. The long open plan bar houses a pool table and dartboard, as well as televisions throughout for airing the advertised live sport. On the rear wall is a massive screen that is faced by rows of seating, ideal for large sporting events. I’d probably use this place if I lived locally.

A modern, low-level sport bar and restaurant, with a patio area, on a large road island (hence the name!). The building is in plain brick, with the restaurant entrance off to the right and the bar to the left. I didn't see the restaurant, or the menu. The bar room is a straight room, with a couple of pool tables and a dart board. Several TVs are around showing sport, of course. The decor is cream walls, with white ceiling and red carpet/wood floor mix. A few old Baggies' team pictures and a few England flags decorate the walls and ceiling. The service was fine and there was no music. The clientele was very cosmopolitan and of varying ages - it felt comfortable and does what it says on the tin, so to speak. Beer; no real ale, usual taps stuff, with a decent enough Banks's MILD. A much better experience than i thought. I would happily pop back for a swifty.
