A detached cottage-styled Banks's pub with rear patio area and central entrance. The exterior is in half white render and half exposed brick, with hanging baskets in the summer.
The interior is open-plan around a U shaped central bar that faces you as you go in. The place has the white and fake beam look on the walls and a white ceiling, with a patterned carpet. The room ends in a dart area, which is in white and wood panel. It has patterned perimeter seating and traditional stools. It has lots of old photos on the walls and memorabilia dotted about. There are a few TVs with Sky TV for the sport and there was no background music. Clean and friendly, I have been here a few times now. There service is good and it is often well attended with a mixed clientele, watching the sport and playing pub games like dominoes and cards.
Beer; usual tap stuff with Banks’s MILD and bitter Cask on electronic pump – the MILD is great. There are now two guest handpulls - the ubiquitous Pedigree and Brakspear Oxford Gold were on at last visit.
Always a place to visit every trip to Darlo for me - it is just a good solid pub.
